Fit and Fastenings
Width, length and closure have to work together; an attractive strap is only part of the assembly.
A strap has at least three different sizing questions: width at the watch, width at the buckle, and usable length around the wrist. Hirsch's sizing guide treats attachment width, buckle width and the lengths of the two halves separately. A strap that fits the lugs can still be wrong for your buckle or wrist. Hirsch size guide.
Width and profile
The atelier uses straight straps and bracelets: the body keeps its attachment width through to the closure. A rounded strap tip is an end treatment, not a taper. Real straps may instead narrow toward the buckle, so their two stated widths still matter when buying a replacement. Thickness is another independent dimension, particularly where material folds around a buckle.
How the closure works
A pin buckle uses a hinged tongue through one adjustment hole. The short strap wraps around its crossbar, while keepers hold the long tail close to the band. A folding or deployant clasp instead closes hinged sections into an overlapping assembly. Patek Philippe emphasizes that its closures are designed for particular strap lengths and thicknesses and are not freely interchangeable. Patek Philippe buckles and clasps.
A safety cover, a push-button release and a length-adjustment mechanism are different features. A clasp may have some without the others. A butterfly arrangement folds from opposite sides, often keeping the closed join discreet; Tissot's cited PRX uses a butterfly clasp with push-buttons. Tissot clasp specification.
In the atelier
The closed loop illustrates a fastened watch rather than measuring your wrist. Every strap and bracelet has a straight body, including the integrated bracelet. Attachment width belongs to the chosen fixed case size; it is not a universal fraction of case width. Unsupported older studies are reported without overwriting their stored data, not silently converted into a different case.
Flexible straps show a tongue, engaged hole, folded short end and keepers; bracelets use family-specific folding closures. Those are visible construction cues, not interactive opening or adjustment mechanisms. Each case requires a supported attachment; nominal width alone does not admit the integrated bracelet.
The Bund option on leather adds an under-case pad; pass-through nylon already has its own under-case route. Such layers affect the graphic's profile but do not certify insulation or protection. No material simulation, load test or manufacturing-ready fit is implied. Use Studio's underside view to judge the closure and tail as part of the whole watch, not just the front-facing colour.
