Retro LED

An on-demand LED watch asks for an action before it gives a reading. Its resting black window is part of the interaction. When the segments light, their colour and spacing become the focus; they do not need a simulated white glow around every edge to be luminous.

LED is not every luminous digital watch

Bulova's Computron is a current LED reference. Its operating instructions describe a Display button, a recessed setting control and automatic switch-off after five seconds. The cited product uses its own case architecture, colours and additional functions; those details are not automatically part of this original module. Hamilton's PSR uses a different approach: a hybrid reflective LCD and emissive OLED display. Its readable resting display should not be used as evidence that a pure on-demand LED must remain lit. The operating systems and button sequences are different. Hamilton PSR display, PSR instructions.

In the atelier

Retro LED is an original module available in the eight standard case families. Choose red or amber segments; this is a palette choice, not a claim to reproduce the cited Computron variant. Its fixed rectangular screen sits inside the chosen shaped faceplate and stays black while sleeping.

Display wakes at Time. Further presses cycle Seconds, Date and Weekday, returning to Time. Each Display action renews the five-second interval; after it expires the screen sleeps, and the next wake starts at Time again. Time and the calendar follow your device's local clock, using a 24-hour display without a settings sheet. The visible Display button provides the same action without requiring precise clicks on the small physical control.

There is no alarm, stopwatch, countdown or second time zone in this module. Light is not a separate LED backlight: the active segments themselves are emissive. Night changes the surrounding scene, not the wake rule. A saved design does not store a running instrument. See digital controls for operation and session-reset behaviour.
